It was a benchmark more than a competitor. The goal was to make an FR platform achieve the same track time as an MR platform...
When the comparo happened. It was to see if Nissan achieved their goal. And they did. All those articles clearly state both cars give driving experiences from different planets. But the benchmark was achieved.
