Footnote wise here: Hyundai engineers promised a V8 right before the coupe was released and it never happen, it would of persuaded me much further had they kept their promise, just think how many Mustang and Camaro owners would reacted.
It wasn't exactly promised. They attempted to transversely fit the v8 in for production. It hindered performance. Putting it in longitudinally didn't fit. Rhys Millen team built a rear engine version. Too costly. It would've been a $70,000 car. They tried, which is more than I can say for Nissan, as of lately. Unfortunately, making a v8 coupe wasn't a thought till the market began asking for it.
