If it's shine you are looking for, try a sealant type wax for longevity, then top that with a glaze, and then top that with a show wax. I did that and the car looks better than new, even after 70K miles.

I ended up using Meguiars polisher for "depth" and was recommended to try the Jet Black liquid Wax since it was a full synthetic. I'll have to look into true glazes. Never used them before. The polisher said it was suppose to glaze well. But first, I'm getting that porter DA polisher. Enough of this "by hand" stuff.
Oh, and that tire liquid shine gel is rather nice. A little to slick in places because I got over zealous. But it doesn't sling at all and is holding its shine perfectly.
