We have the Touring/Sports model, and the pedals are no more than either hard plastic, in the case of the dead and gas pedal; the brake pedal (as ours is an automatic) is rubber, and I suspect that the clutch pedal is rubber too. All the pedals are simply clad in an aluminum fascia that is no more than 1/16" thick, rolled on the outer perimeters to look like a solid block of aluminum, but they are not—the aluminum is purely a cosmetic inlay, period. The gas pedal is more than a just a hinged-to-the-floor-affair as there is an enclosure assembly behind the pedal that houses where the cable enters and probably (as I'm guessing) other self-adjusting mechanisms for cable tension.
I am asking about the pedals found in the Touring. Nissan refers to them as aluminum pedals. I know they are cosmetic overlays. My old FD RX-7 had real aluminum brake and clutch pedals, the pedal and arm were forged as one piece. But I'm not expecting this in the Z. I just want the "look".

My guess is the brake (and clutch) have slip on rubber backings. But from your description, the gas pedal swap could be complicated. If the enclorue housing you described can not be easily detached from the pedal, Nissan may need to sell the pedal complete with the enclosure assembly. Which will make it more expensive and still a complicated install for the non-mechanically inclined.

I'm trying to imagine what this enclosure might look like. Most gas pedals connect to an arm that goes up or perhaps into the floor.

Is the gas pedal itself one piece or can the aluminum look covering be removed like on your brake pedal?
