I have been in many seats (cloth, leather, vinyl, etc.). Granted that each material has it own roughness/smoothness, the seat design will have a tremendous effect to how it will hold you as the driver.

Alcantara would probably have the most grip among the material. Perfect for track guys.

I don't track (yet) but I do a lot of canyon carving. I would have liked the alcantara if it were for its uneven look once you sit on it. Much like a "walked on grass lawn."

As i initially said, a lot (but not all) don't like it.

It's a personal choice, the weather where you reside, the car's air conditioning power, etc.
