Default AT not downshifting when hot?

So me and some buddies hit the track for the first time yesterday at High Plains Raceway (CO). What a buzz! Anyway, one was driving the 370Z I sold him this year and after a couple hot laps sometimes it wouldn't downshift (on paddles) unless he clicked it a couple times (or when the car allowed it really). Anyone know why? His oil temps were very hot @260F, was the car protecting the tranny by not allowing downshifts on a hot tranny? That same lap coming to the finish the car actually pulled power, not quite limp mode, but clearly wasn't happy. Also does anyone know if the tranny temp can be seen in Torque? He's gonna get an oil cooler before next time too.
