I use an old microfiber towel - actualy I just drape several wet ones across the front of the car, wait about 10 minutes, and everything comes right off (except the paint.)
For stubborn tar spots that need to be softened up a bit I will use a cheapy MF towel taped into place to keep it moist while the chems do their thing. As long as I am not wiping the paint with them.
I am really anal about what touches my paint lol. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
