I saw a couple threads pertaining to painting stock wheels as well as Plasti-dipping and just wanted to share my experience with this miracle product plasti-dip. I chose to dip my 40th graphite wheels gold and after a short trip to Pep Boys which yielded 2 cans of black and 3 cans of gold I was ready to DIY!
This was my first time using the metalizer and I had doubts it would leave a rich gold color because the cap is a translucent color. To start I just scrubbed the wheels and let em dry. I taped up all along the tires, calipers/rotors, lugs and center cap. I newspaper and taped the hell out of the car although it's not completely necessary... There are tons of youtube videos where they just peel the plasti dip off the tire after drying and there's a perfect later adhered to the wheels.
So anyways, I put on 3 coats of regular black as a base coat (because it's much cheaper) and hit it with 5 or 6 coats of gold and the final product came out pretty nice.
Had to sneak in a pic with the goat
Overall it's a super easy way to change the color of your wheels to the tune of about $40 and a couple hours of your time. Not to mention I love how smooth they came out. They also have many other metalizer colors like aluminum, gunmetal and an inbetween silver.
