I ended up driving the front wheels onto some 2 x 12 and 1 x 6 to raise the front end enough in order to fit the floor jack under the car. I ended up using the aluminum cross member behind the engine for a lift point.
Installed a larger than OE Bosch oil filter that happens to be used on my '99 Eclipse and the GTR. Win, win with one filter for both cars. Started investigating other brands of filters at some autoparts stores and found that the Bosch inlet holes are smaller than the OE filter. Same amount of holes but smaller. The outlet holes in the filter don't have as many as I would like to see either. The Mobil 1 and K&N filters looked very good. May switch up on the next change.
OE oil was still fairly clean looking in color.
