Lets say everything he said was true and that VDC was on......
If you are going 60 MPH on a curve on wet roads and you are coasting with the clutch in. If you drop the clutch in 2nd, the mechanical drag of the motor may cause the wheels to spin and rear to step out. The wheels will actually spin slower, so it will be like stabbing the brakes. The VDC cannot disengage the clutch. I do not know if VDC will add throttle to reduce engine braking....I would doubt it.
So it could happen. More severe in a non-SRM car---or if SRM is off.
