I havent done any research on increasing the rev limit because I always thought that the VVEL would fail or something (I read on here a couple of years ago). Good and valid questions. The answers are somewhat unknown. Its rather likely that the oil pump will be able perform fine at higher RPMs. But this will have to be explored in greater detail. We will investigate modifications to the housing and the pressure relief valve when we get in there, but ultimately there is only one true way to find out... and gears blowing up always got in the way of anyone exploring it in previously.

As for the rest of the engine, the same applies. I would personally not spin the stock crankshaft much beyond 8000 if you are concerned for reliability based on the accounts of those that have when using dry sumps.

I personally feel about the same with the VVEL system for now. Unless we can find anyone who has taken it beyond 8000 very often, I am not sure we have any data to work with. Generally the guys who are spinning the highest have switched to HR heads to my knowledge.
