I think i understand what you are saying.
Its the annoying feature of the OEM headunit. You cannot browse through the Disc or USB for that matter without playing the track. You can go really fast by turning the scroll wheel but umm its gonna play a track while you are going through it.

So No, You cannot browse through a Disc without actually playing tracks
