A buddy of mine works for a major insurance company and he said there has been an increase in the number of claims involving drivers blaming another driver for their accident. It hard to disprove, but insurance companies are skeptical behind many of these claims when no information of the other party (vehicle) is provided. Many times the insurance company tries to claim under collision vice uninsured motorist which leads to higher insurance rates. The consensus amoung insurance claims adjusters is that the person involved in the single person (car) accident is the one at fault and tries to make it out that they were the victim due to their own neglect, i.e., distractions such as texting, talking on the phone, etc.

Best of luck on your dealings with the insurance company.
