Civic's and mazda 3 (speed 3 engines a quick little bastards) could still be a "targeted vehicle". The most stolen cars in US are civic, camry, accord. The reason is since they are too many of them, the demand for parts is high as well. If you want to be totally worry free you need a ford ranger or a geo metro.
I had a "semi" nice Evolution back in the day and I used to drive to work/errands around town an old Chevy S-10 POS. It was red with a blue tailgate and had nothing but what came from factory. Not even the radio was upgraded and it had an anemic 4 cylinder engine.
I have a friend who owns a 911 Porsche but drives a Geo Metro to work and around town.
