Life is too short to get hung up on relatively little things. In the future remember to be prepared to walk. This was your key mistake. You were very vested in getting the car,
you drove a long way, and the dealership used that to their advantage.

The credit reporting is normal: there is nothing you can do about that. They will run your numbers instantly with multiple banks, and you may take a 'hit' that will recover quickly. Credit reporting is a game. Want to not play it? Then remember in the future, have cash.

I financed part of a few cars in the past 3 years because rates are low and it gave me bargaining power but I was ready to simply write a check for the full amount if there were any shenanigans.

Funny how that goes a long way with the Finance manager to get the best rate, and in 2 of 3 cases they bettered my pre-approved rates by a quarter. Make them work for you.

Until then, enjoy the ride.

This brings up a question from me: If you are travelling some distance for a car, how do you go about it without letting the salesman know? Do you just contact them before hand, but play it off as if you live in town?
