Driving skill doesn't really translate on the street anyway. Sure it's nice to have the skills to make an accident-avoiding maneuver that most average drivers could not make. However, it's the constant decisions made while driving among other people on public roads that determines how safe a driver one is. Safe drivers rarely make bad decisions and frequently make good ones. Don't pick up your phone; don't do your makeup; don't read $hit; check your mirrors often; know your route before you get in the car; don't react to that aggressive driver; be polite to other drivers; all of these things work towards a safer and friendlier road environment.
