I may be wrong but when I had my aftermarket head unit installed, I was told that steering controls aren't programmed into any unit because every auto manufacturer's steering control wiring is different, or something like that, or it's too much effort for a head unit manufacturer to make programming to work with every car's controls. I am sure there are aftermarket adapters but it can be pricey I would imagine.

My car doesn't have steering controls but I just had a chat with the store owner saying such. I did have to get an aftermarket Bluetooth mic and a separate adapter for my iPod attachment, since my head unit has no input for my USB adapter that my car comes with, I'm ok with both because the mic is better quality and my current iPod adapter is hidden in my glove box instead of on the bottom of the control console, out of sight for theft and cleaner look.
