As long as you try and keep similar diameters to OEM, then you should be fine as far as lights and stuff go. But if the treads are significantly different, you might encounter some dangerous conditions in the rain. I have done it a couple times and did not have any problems - once after the stock rears ran out and the fronts were still fine and once when one of my rear tires separated and a fellow forum member at Discount Tire hooked me up with some used tires from their stash on the same day.
