I hydroplane all the time when my tread gets low if I'm not careful. I slow down for curves, turns, traffic, and heavy standing water. Otherwise, I just make sure to steer straight, and let off brake and gas. But yeah, slow down. And if you feel even remotely unsafe, get new tires.
