Unless you can put the power down, there's no real reason to launch at high RPMs. I've had some of my quickest launches on worn street tires at 1500-2000 RPMs - no spin, no lurch, all go. But it's all about controlled throttle at almost any launch RPM; otherwise you would be launching at WOT if you could keep traction.
