Before the seasons started, each patch could significant affect one or more elements of game play. I would not be surprised at all if that is the reason you feel that resist all is less common. They also knocked down the monster dmg a lot while increasing base player def. So resists don't have the same impact they once have nor are they as critical.
Plus.. ancient legends..

Blizzard wanted to move away from the legendary grind and move to the versatility of sets.
