I had a similar experience about a month ago on an unusually cold morning here in AL. Was running late and didnt warm the car up because i didnt realize it was going to be cold out. (by cold i mean 40F) Kind of got on it for a bit coming out of a merging turn and the pedal stuck on the floor for about a second when i shifted. I revved high and looked like a dickhead, and then it popped back out. I havent had the problem any other time but I usually warm the car up when it is cold for a few minutes or at least let it sit when its warm until the initial RPM spike comes down during warm starting. So Im thinking the viscosity theory could be true, unless maybe there is some sort of catch that occured in the linkage or something like that.
