lol, why do you think I asked on here for the proper procedure? I did not want a crease in my headliner and I didn't want it falling down.

I sort of scooted around the issue by running the wire under the trim pieces for most of the distance, but in the back the weather stripping had to be pulled down to finish the job on the hatch. Putting the stripping back on sucked, because you could hear the pressure crushing the headliner - but it's more resilient than I expected and despite the noise, there's nothing visibly bent.
