Wat. Mandrel bent means that the pipe is the same diameter even in bends, what you're thinking of is
crush bent where the bends are a smaller diameter. I would not call a custom exhaust 'cheaping out' nor would I call the Z's exhaust complicated - there's like 2 bends.
