I can't find the picture I took of the aftermath of me removing my OEM knob.
Essentially it was torn to bits, the leather was separated from the plastic and the plastic knob itself was in over a dozen pieces.
Nothing recommended seemed to work, so I ended up using vise grips and towels. Even with the items mentioned earlier, still took me a good 30-45 minutes or so.
