yea you're right. it'd be tough to make it work with 4-5 coats with dry time in between.
my technique includes minimal dry time and only 3 coats; one super light w/ 30 secs dry time, one to get coverage w/ 60secs, and one thicker final coat for smoothness. I suppose the downside is that its a little harder to peel (I.e. you have to pull it more carefully if you remove it). however I don't get the rough, orange-peel look that a lot of people complain about. in terms of durability it still seems to hold; had it on the front of my BMW for 2 years with no peeling, nicks, etc. I only did it recently on my Z but I don't expect different results.
