You can see in the last photo, he installed another wing. Likely using the same holes. I think that most people removing their spoiler are looking to install another one.

If you want to remove the spoiler entirely, it may be easier to find someone with the same color hatch in a base model and trade them your hatch with spoiler for their hatch w/o spoiler.

Nice DIY, OP. I think that most people who break it during removal just get impatient or don't use the fishing line method. That tape is strong stuff.
