The Bluetooth in the Nissan units is probably, like everything else in it, years old and obsolete technology that they buy in bulk and make a bar selling booze level markup.

But these 2 items provide stellar sound and far more reliable Bluetooth connectivity:

Amazon.com: [New Version]Mpow® Streambot One Bluetooth 4.0 Hands-Free Car Kit / Bluetooth Audio Music Receiver for Car Stereo Supports Voice Commands, AptX, with 3.5 mm Aux Input Jack, Dual Port USB Car Charger and Magnetic Base for Apple iPhone 6, 6

As a bonus, the previously useless USB port under the armrest will actually power the Mpow unit, making it useful.
Just ordered it. Hopefully, its easy to install because I am a klutz when it comes to DIY.
