I'm quite sure that it can illuminate due to low brake fluid. It has happened to me several times.
OP, top off your brake fluid to the max line. I have seen both the BRAKE (e-brake) and ABLS (slip indicator) light come on because of a low brake fluid level. I've had them come on independently and together, and topping off the brake fluid to the max line has turned off the lights every time for me. I've even had them come on when the fluid level was more than half way between the MIN and MAX levels.
