When people talk about covered under warranty, they're generally referring to the warranty that comes with the car, not an extended service plan that extends the 3yr/36K mile warranty to 8yr/120K miles. Of course your dealer didn't hesitate when you brought it to them. The VIN just told them that you have the extended warranty.

The issue is the 5yr/60K mile powertrain warranty that comes with every new Z says it covers parts inside the housing, but they won't cover the CSC.
