How come you want to swap boxes? I had a feel of a base gearbox when i was in Japan 2 years ago. Man that shift felt sweet. It felt really tight and it had none of that notchy/clunky feel of my sport's shift. I'd even go as far as saying the throw felt shorter. Then again, a showroom gearbox is going to feel better than my then 30,000km box.
We only get the touring sport spec here in Australia.

I would say the difference is old v new.
Unless Japan has something different in their transmission, which I doubt since Nissan does not even build them, the transmissions are identical other than the sensors & control unit for SRM.
