I think its a combination of the above...The economy being the main factor. Companies that would not have hesitated to jump into product development anticipating 20-30K car sales the first year are re-thinking that, given the Market and Nissan pull-back to just over 10K (in the US). The car is a bit more complex too..

All the basics seem to be covered (intake/exhaust/suspension). it will take a bit longer for the fringe stuff to come to market IMO..
