The quickest way to ruin a Clutch master cylinder is to let it run dry on fluid. If the CSC goes out (leaks out the fluid), this is what causes the master cylinder to die an early death. If you keep it full of fluid, it may be OK. I have also not heard of one person catching the fluid leak from the CSC before it goes out. On the older cars you would get a tail tail sign of this by a wet spot on the ground. Since the CSC is in the bell housing, good luck getting that visual aid.
