I wouldn't worry about stone chips. I daily drive on 275/35r19 Hankook RS3's. Awesome tire for dry, warm weather. Not so much for everything else. It helps with turning a TON, understeer is really cut down vs the 245f/275r setup. I also do the same for my semislick R888 on my Enkeis - 275/40r18 all around. If they're cheap, you're new to autox, and just wanna learn and throw the car around, go for it! When you want to start getting competitive then that's when you really have to sit down and think about tire choice and compound. For now, enjoy
