well said. the z is just very noisy, not just the engine, but also the transmission. there is so much noise while idling and it can be quite scary if you are new to the car. It seems to have more when cold and evolves into different noise when hot.

I thought I had a rod bearing problem when I first got the car. Yeah, the shifter also vibrates more than usual.

Both the engine and trans have been around for a long time. Hopefully they have worked out most of the bugs.... And it is normal to consume some oil within a couple of thousand miles.
