When the 370Z came out it was 3 generation of Mustang ago.
The Cammaro wasn't even out yet and when it did debut it took Ford 1 entire year to respond to the power gains.
Now, Nissan didn't have the displacement or a forced induction plan for the car likely because of budget. So they did nothing and saved money which is fine but changes were needed 5 years ago. They had an opportunity to go a different route and they could have even gone after it with a limited edition car to test the waters and didn't. So, when the BRZ came out and showed a simple car with good handling can really become popular they still did nothing. They have made changes but all well within the realm of safe as if current sales numbers are acceptable. I don't understand Nissan logic at all.
