Seems that all new cars are not living up to expectations. I've read Nissan is debating on dropping the Z and make something that will compete with the FR-S/BRZ. Everyone's also going to smaller displacement blown motors with sound tracks pumped into the cabin (cuz they sound shitty), electric steering (for more fuel economy) which sucks ballz and they are even replacing the spare tire with cheap repair kits.
Notable let downs this year...
- M4 has so much torque that it actually oversteers when you put down power that it hurts it performance in the twisties. Haven't driven it but have seen numerous reviews that all have the same consensus.
- Mustang is bigger, heavier and slower in straight line than the previous gen.
- Lexus RC F is a freaking pig at 4k lbs! Dafuq were they thinking?
Honestly the only recently new car that's been a pleasant surprise has been the vette, if you can get past its hideous rear end.
I really don't have high hopes for any new cars as there's so much competition, seems like the marketing mantra now is a "world car" which means they must meet all types of international regulations and standards which leads to compromises. I'm looking forward to the next car that will surprise me, whatever that may be, but until then not getting too optimistic.
On the bright side, gas is pretty cheap.
