Hopefully doable without ripping the tank off the car..
The stock pickup isnt connected via a tube but a shallow male/female push interface. It is also inside of a canister, with the fuel filter and regulator wrapped around it.

There would be no advantage to dropping the tank out of the car. The access panels are in the interior behind the seats. There would be no extra access by removing the tank from the car.
