Early shock failure will happen eventually But the determining factor is the amount of drop, use, types of roads, and such the failure may happen sooner than later, But it will eventually happen.

Look at springs being a cheap way to drop it till you replace them with actual coil overs that should last as long as the stock shocks because they were designed with the car being dropped.
