Like he said. It's all a closed system - not just replacing the blown bags and moving on. It's no GUARANTEE to have a write-off at that point. Lets say its a 30k car with 5k to replace bags and 5k to fix the car. 10k in damage is well short of the (likely) 15k+ in value the insurer would call for before they consider the vehicle ruined.
