I would suggest taking a look at the AV section here on the forum to get the ball rolling and a few ideas flowing.

If I were you I would purchase everything online. It really depends a lot on what specs you are looking for in a head unit and how much you are willing/able to spend.
Another aspect to consider is what your current configuration is. Do you have the factory bose system? If so there is a long list of things you would need to do to get the stereo sounding good again. Just adding a head unit to the factory bose speakers would be quite a nightmare.
