Bummer. I've got a 2010. At about 5,000 miles the red dash light started coming on indicating the top wasn't fully open/closed, and the car would beep every few minutes letting me know the indicator light was on. Very annoying, since the top itself was working just fine.
It was under warranty so I took it to the dealer. They claimed it was a bad micro switch in one of the miniature hydraulic cylinders that open/close the top. (I think there's 10 little cylinders) They didn't know which one, so they tried to disassemble the top and replace all cylinders and hydraulic lines from the pump. Long story short, they broke it in the process. They then ordered an entire new complete top assembly from the factory and it was an easy swap. $15,000 later compliments of Nissan I got my car back and it's been flawless to date.
If you are under warranty, I'd definitely ask for a top replacement and not an attempted repair.
