Still plenty of ferrous metal parts in the engine. They do wear and the itty bitty particles of ferrous metal would seem to me to be abrasive. The question for me is the capability of the filter to filter that stuff out. Assuming a Pure 1 oil filter, 99.9% of 20 micron particles are captured. 20 microns is slightly larger than the width of a human hair. Small, but do you want that, at the power downstroke between crank pin and the rod bearing? True, it is minimal but, for 50 bucks, why not?
