i had this problem on my G's momo knob before. i fixed the thread using a thread repair tool, and screwed on the specter knob.
also, youll probably want to get a new momo shift boot with the collar inside which will mate with the bottom of the knob cleanly.

Hubby is an aircraft mech. Hopefully he will be able to "adjust" the fit and set screws so they don't loosen up.
