I fell in love with a 'vette when I was a kid too. I knew all the history, pointed them out wherever we went...
...and then I finally got one. It had its upsides, but driving a piece of crap just got old. It was like they say about boats, "The happiest two days of ownership are the day you buy it and the day you sell it." Almost every time I drove it, there was something new that was broken or rattling or rebroken (something I had already fixed once). I was so glad to see it go, it was like a weight lifted off my shoulders.
When I was shopping for this car (the Z), I looked at *everything* - every used and new car from 1970 to now that was even close to what I wanted. But the one car I didn't even look at, even though it was right in the sweet spot of price and performance, was the 'vette. I just don't want one any more. I just don't want to watch a car fall to pieces in front of me again.
I needed to get it out of my system though. Maybe you do too...
