I think others have hit is spot on. But long and short is modding the car in general publics eye doesn't make it more valuable. Even when it looks nice, people assume it has been beat on and also assume your walking away because something is going to let go soon and your trying to cut your losses. I had a couple of well sorted turbo cars I've tried to sell over the years. In each case the low offers I was getting that I made way more money parting it out, returning to as close to stock as possible and selling. In every instance I recover way more. Heck I have a large single turbo trans am gta that I'm currently getting ready to disassemble and part out because the offers I was Getting as a whole would not have paid for the long block. I'll easily make 50% more parting it out and scrapping the rest. The market for high powered turn key modded cars is quite small.
