I wouldn't dismiss the HHO quite so quickly. The developers of this car clearly know the basic chemistry involved in separating hydrogen from oxygen and recombining them. The HHO gas maybe acting as a catalyst to improve the efficiency of the gasoline combustion allowing a leaner fuel mixture. Look at water injectors used to allow higher compression motors to run turbo's. I'm sure someone told them they couldn't make more power because water doesn't burn.
