A little Q&A
What is a Wilwood kit? A true Wilwood big brake kit is a product produced in its entirety in Camarillo CA and sold by approved dealers. There are no true Wilwood kits utilizing one piece rotors or calipers other than the FNSL6 and DPr rear calipers. All kits come with 2pc hats and rotors by default.
What about your Aerolite6 front kit then? The Aero6 front kit is a TCE/Wiwood kit and utilized components from both Wilwood and TCE to finalize the product. In this case we 'sub' the Aero6 calipers and pads on a front kit and supply our own radial mount brackets for using this combo on the same hats and rotors found on the 14" front Wilwood factory kit. In fact we bump it up to the 14.25" kit for maximum efficiency.
So it's not a Wilwood kit? Directly; no. This is a TCE kit as other kits sold with one piece rotors and alternate caliper are NOT Wilwood kits. Don't be mislead or misinformed on what is what. If someone is selling calipers, pads and reworked rotors from an SRT8 to fit your Z this is NOT A WILWOOD kit. The companies supplying such kits are not bad folks, they are simply piggybacking the good name of Wilwood and misleading buyers into thinking it's something it's not. While functional and such know that there is NO Wilwood support for any issues arising from such use and you'll get no real help from the tech line. Don't bad mouth them if you have an issue. In the past 20+ years I've seen some "Wiwood kits" that were pretty nice, and I've seen some scary stuff that could go way wrong; incorrect calipers for the application, wrong piston sizing, poor pad selection and inadequate brackets. When things go sideways...Wilwood gets tagged as the bad guy. So much so that another larger supplier picked up on it at one time to exploit it for their own benefit. In fact one online "Wilwood store" was shut down by Wilwood in a lawsuit. Buyer beware! Know what you are purchasing, who designed it, what is is made for and who you can call if you have questions.
What kits do you offer then? TCE offers the full line of factory kits including 13/13" 14/13" kits. Today those use the relatively new FNSL6 front caliper. Older kits used the BSL6N from the past ten years. The rear kits are radial mount Dynapros or DPR parts as I refer to them. TCE also offers the custom 14.25" kit noted above.
What's all that caliper lingo and acronym stuff about? The Wilwood product line has a wide variety of caliper for specific uses. (noted some not right for your car!) and we simply refer to a Forged SuperLite as an FSL or a DynaPro Six as a DP6. You can find a cross reference to all these on our
