First foremost it's not your average diy project unless you have some experience in installing gears. There's specialty tools that's needed for gears install so I would recommend local Nissan dealership or a reputable shop.
And yes you will need shims to correctly install them. I can't tell you which shims you exactly need because the backlash needs to be measured. You can buy a variety of shims sizes and return what wasn't used at a Nissan dealership. You may want to replace pinion seal as well.
I have all the major parts so all is needed are pretty what I mentioned.
