I didn't find any manuals for the 'vert so this is just a guess. It sounds like the switch(es) that detect full closure are not actuating or are broken. My guess is that the switch is part of or near the latch(es) at the windshield. It may just be a minor mechanical adjustment to the latch to get the top frame to hit the switch properly. If you find a service manual for the 'vert, please post a copy/link.
